MagicReel turns your videos into animation. Doing that means you trust us with personal moments, and we take that seriously. This policy explains what we collect, why, who touches it, and the choices you have. It applies to the MagicReel mobile app and the magicreel.io website, operated by Ember Ventures Ltd ("MagicReel", "we", "us").

1. Information we collect

Videos and creations

When you use MagicReel, the video clip you select (including its audio) is uploaded to our servers so it can be transformed into your chosen animation style, and the finished animation is delivered back to you. Your creations are saved on your device; you decide whether to keep, save to your photo library, share, or delete them.

Purchase information

Subscriptions and credit packs are processed by Apple (App Store) and, when available, Google (Google Play). We receive confirmation of the purchase - the product, price tier, and a transaction identifier - so we can grant your credits. We never receive or store your card number or billing details.

Usage and device information

We collect basic technical information needed to run and improve the app: device model and operating system version, app version, crash reports, and in-app events (for example, that a render was started or a style was chosen). We use first-party analytics for this. We do not use your data for third-party advertising, and we do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.

Information you send us

If you contact us - through the form on our website or by email - we receive your name (if given), email address, and message so we can reply.

2. How your videos are processed

• Purpose-limited. Uploaded videos are used solely to generate the animation you requested and to deliver it back to you. Nothing else.
• No AI training. We do not use your videos or your finished animations to train AI models, and our processing agreements with infrastructure partners prohibit them from doing so with API customer content.
• Machine processing. Your videos are processed automatically. Our team does not view them except where strictly necessary to investigate abuse, fix a technical fault you have reported, or comply with the law.
• Limited retention. Source clips and rendered outputs are held on processing infrastructure only as long as needed to complete and deliver your render, and are deleted from those systems automatically after a limited period.

3. Who we share information with

We share personal information only with service providers who help us run MagicReel, under contracts that limit what they may do with it:

• AI animation providers (Decart and fal.ai) - receive the video you choose, including its sound, and render it into the animated version you asked for. Which of the two handles a given clip depends on its length and on service availability.
• AI vision (Google) - a small number of still frames from your video are sent to Google's Gemini service so the animation keeps your real appearance (skin tone, hair, clothing) and so we can check the finished animation came out correctly.
• Accounts and storage (Supabase) - stores your account, credit balance and the animations saved to your library.
• Subscription management (RevenueCat) - records which plan you hold so your purchase works across your devices.
• Hosting and delivery (Vercel) - runs our servers and delivers the app and website.
• App stores (Apple; Google when available) - handle payments and subscriptions.
• Email delivery (Resend) - routes contact-form messages to our inbox.

Your videos are not used to train AI models, and these providers may use what they receive only to deliver the service to us. Inside the app we ask for your agreement to this processing before your first video is ever sent.

We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect our rights or users' safety, or as part of a business transfer (in which case this policy continues to apply). We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.

4. Legal bases

Where UK/EU data protection law applies, we process your information on these bases: performance of a contract (rendering the animations you ask for, granting purchases), legitimate interests (keeping the service secure, fixing bugs, understanding aggregate usage), and consent where required (which you can withdraw at any time).

5. Data retention

Videos are removed from processing infrastructure automatically after your render is delivered (see section 2). Purchase records are kept as long as needed for accounting and to maintain your credit balance. Contact messages are kept as long as needed to resolve your query. Aggregated analytics that identify no individual may be kept longer.

6. Security

Uploads and downloads are encrypted in transit (TLS). Access to production systems is restricted and logged. No internet service can promise perfect security, but we design for the minimum data, held for the minimum time.

7. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to receive a portable copy, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to complain to your data protection authority (in the UK, the ICO). To exercise any of these, email magicreel@emberventures.io - we respond to all verified requests within the timelines the law requires. California residents: we do not sell or share personal information as defined by the CCPA/CPRA, and we honour deletion and access requests as described above.

8. International transfers

Our service providers process data in the United States and other countries. Where personal information is transferred out of the UK or EEA, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.

9. Children

MagicReel is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has used MagicReel, contact us and we will delete the associated data.

10. Changes to this policy

If we make material changes, we will update this page and, where appropriate, tell you in the app before the changes take effect. The date at the top always reflects the current version.
